Go to the profile page and make note of the person's ID, such as, Orme-81.

Now go to the Free-Space page and click on the Free-Space photo.

This will take you to the photo edit page.

Scroll down to "Edit Photo Info."

You will see the title of the free space page, then "People, Places & Things in the Photo".

A little below that will be a box with the word "Add:"

paste Orme-81 [or whatever the profile ID is] in the box.

Scroll down the page and click "Save Changes to Photo Info."

The photo should now appear on the profile page.

The above answers your first question. As for the syntax question, I don't have a clue. :o)

I'm not sure if there's a special syntax for linking to an image page, but you can link to any page using the syntax [url text], eg. [http://www.wikitree.com/photo/Daigneault-8.jpg my great great grandparents] would show up on the page as my great great grandparents.
