Newbie question: Why am I not connected to my own great-great grandfather? Is there some button I need to push?

I successfully merged my own entry to one that I guess belonged to nobody, because I can now edit it, but for some reason it is not connected to me, even though I've done father of, father of, all the way down the line. Is there some button I need to push?

Are you talking about the 'relationship finder'?  It's updated once a day.  Try again tomorrow.
