It's time to meet another one of our wonderful WikiTreers. This week's member is Isabelle Huth.
Isabelle became a Wiki Genealogist in January of 2020. She's active in our France, Germany and Medieval projects.
What are some of the surnames you are researching?
On my mother’s side: Zapp, Büchsner, Seichepine and Nassoy. On my father’s side: Oliger, Marchal, Chatrian, Hagood and Schwalbach.
What are some of the locations you are researching?
Mainly France and Germany, but also Italy, Austria, and the United Kingdom.
When and how did you get interested in genealogy and family history?
Twenty years ago, someone in my family started a family tree and explained and showed me his research and results. I found it so interesting that I started too and kept searching over and over again. There was already a good start of a family tree on my father's side which had been started by one of my uncles and which my father had shown me.
Who's your favorite ancestor and why?
I love them all, including my glassmaker ancestors. But there is one that particularly attracts me for its historical side (because I like history so much). Hans Bruno von Niedbrück, my 13th great grandfather, who was a doctor of medicine, diplomat, advisor and speaker for the city of Metz in France, and who was sent as an emissary to Calais to negotiate a mediation of the Protestants between France and England in 1545 (and I like very much this period of time).
Tell us about a brick wall you hope to bust through.
I hope to bust through a good part of my brick walls one day, especially the Hagood and Chatrian parts on my father’s side.
If you could pick one person in history to be related to, who would it be and why?
Leonardo da Vinci, because I admire the man, his genius, his paintings, his inventions and his life.
What are some of your interests outside of genealogy?
I like to travel (I love going to Scotland, Ireland, Germany, Florence, London), and taking pictures. I like to draw, cross stitch, read, listen to music, and watch movies and tv shows (especially historical and biographical movies).
