McLeod's of Scotland

I am looking for parents and grandparents of Donal McLeod born in 1778 Parish of Barvas in Scotland.

There are no Old Parish Register records in existence for the parish of Barvas prior to 1810 so there will be no baptismal record for Donel McLeod in 1778. Barvas is on the Isle of Lewis and has been previously mentioned this is some distance from Tain where there is a record of a Donald McLeod being born and baptised in 1778. Tain is on the mainland some 30 miles from Inverness. There were Roman Catholic chapels on the Isle of Lewis but no baptismal records appear to have survived.Scotlandspeople website do not have records for Barvas prior 1810.

First of all Barvas Parish And Tain Parish are far apart,This record is from Tain,

only one i saw.

Donald McLeod Christened FEb 6 1778. Father Donald McLeod.Mother

Janet Munro.There could have been another In Barvas,and maybe was destroyed by

fire,or was unreadable.
