Can someone help break a Hampshire Brick Wall?

Can someone who knows Hampshire records please help me find information and sources for the parents of [[Arnold-11300|James Arnold]].

Thomas Arnold and Sarah Trimmer were named as the parents of James Arnold who died in Whittlesea in the Cape Colony on 14 September 1892. My source for this is James' death notice. [https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QGJ6-7192 Death notice of James Arnold]. On his Death Notice his birthplace is given as Chawton earl Alton, Hampshire.

I can't find anything for Chawlton or Alton. Some indexed information comes up in Ancestry such as a marriage between a Thomas Arnold and Jane Trimmer in Chawton on 4 November 1811 but nothing that takes me to any documents at all. Trimmer could be correct as there are children further down the line who have Trimmer as a middle name, such as James' daughter Phillipa Trimmer Arnold. Any insights will be appreciated.

This is more complicated than I thought because there are two Thomas Arnolds both born in Holybourne around 1790. They might have been cousins. They died in 1853 and 1854 respectively just to confuse things further.

One certainly married Jane Trimmer in 1811

I think this is the Thomas Arnold living in Chawton in the 1841 and 1851 censuses. He is 63 in 1851 so born around 1788.

"England and Wales Census, 1841," database with images, FamilySearch (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M793-61L : 6 March 2021), Thomas Arnold, Chawton, Hampshire, England, United Kingdom; from "1841 England, Scotland and Wales census," database and images, findmypast (http://www.findmypast.com : n.d.); citing PRO HO 107, The National Archives, Kew, Surrey

"England and Wales Census, 1851," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:SGP2-HBJ : 12 September 2019), Thomas Arnold, Chawton, Hampshire, England; citing Chawton, Hampshire, England, p. 11, from "1851 England, Scotland and Wales census," database and images, findmypast (http://www.findmypast.com : n.d.); citing PRO HO 107, The National Archives of the UK, Kew, Surrey

Also I think that this Thomas's death is more likely the one in 1853 not 1854 as it specifies the location of Chawton, but that's not definite.

The other Thomas Arnold married Elizabeth Bowen or Bower in 1815.

There only seems to be a transcription on Ancestry and Findmypast, no images.
