Look at this death certificate: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QSQ-G9SF-LSBD-Z?i=1422&cc=2001287&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AQG5S-JP4J

It says "Burial, Cremation, or Removal" Removal is typed in. Place is Inglewood Cemetery.

Does this mean that her remains were removed from that cemetery? Where would you find the record of where the remains were removed to?

(I have not created her profile yet.)

Generally it means the remains were removed from the hospital, or funeral home, and taken to the cemetery.

edit: in other words, the cemetery for interment was not a local one.
That has me even more confused. According to her death index, she died in Los Angeles County. The funeral home that handled her remains was in Hawthorne, which is in southwestern Los Angeles county. (A part of the greater LA area now, but probably a separate community back then.)

Inglewood Cemetery is 3 miles from Hawthorne (according to Mapquest). So, are you saying her remains were removed from Hawthorne and buried at Inglewood? If that's true, why wouldn't the cert simply says burial at Inglewood?
Don't ask me to explain American death certificates.  All I know is what I have seen on documents where "removal" means that the named funeral home/director/whatever is not responsible for the actual burial.
I agree that ʻRemovalʻ means ʻtransportation of the remainsʻ, It likely means removal to the Inglewood cemetery. Is there even a cemetery in Hawthorne? Or Gardena?  Are other members of the family buried in Inglewood? Inglewood Park Cemetery is large and well known, I think traveling 3 miles to a nice resting place would be reasonable.
Kristinia, her daughter, who was the informant on the death certificate, lived in the same city and was buried in Inglewood Park Cemetery, so I think you're probably right. She was likely buried in Inglewood Park Cemetery.

I'm going to call the cemetery.
