Be very careful when you connect a profile to a parent. You added the mother of this profile as a spouse of the father and the father you have linked to is probably not the correct person. Sources are needed. Be careful about locations and existing relationships.

WikiTree profile: Lucy Doub
closed with the note: Lucy is now connected to the correct father and had no Kentucky connections. I apologise for mistaking her with her niece when it was a Long marriage. She is now connected, as I said she should be, and she had no Kentucky connections.

Here's the death record of Ada Long, daughter of Milton Long and Lucy Jane Doub.

"North Carolina Deaths, 1931-1994," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FPQV-1MR : 17 July 2017), Ada Victoria Long, 08 Nov 1970; citing Greensboro, Guilford, North Carolina, v 38B cn 38642, State Department of Archives and History, Raleigh; FHL microfilm 1,983,486.

And here are Milton, Lucy J (b 1853, not 1821/2) and Ada in the 1880 census; clearly a much younger woman than Lucy Newsome Doub:

"United States Census, 1880," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MC65-9QV : 19 February 2021), Luce J Long in household of Milton Long, Old Richmond, Forsyth, North Carolina, United States; citing enumeration district ED 73, sheet 290B, NARA microfilm publication T9 (Washington, D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, n.d.), FHL microfilm 1,254,963.

Thanks, Eddie. I don't have an ancestry account.  Could you please provide full citations for these?
Thank you for comment. Lucy (Doub) Newsome is/was my maternal great great grandmother and she was a widow for  a long time. William Benson Doub, not Burson, and Mary Charlotte ("Lottie") Newsome  [which is how the surname is/was spelled in Forsyth County when I was a child there, which is where all these people lived and died) and I am related to all the Longs and Doubs in Forsyth County and for your information I have family photos of both Newsom-Doub sisters (because both wed Doubs) from the 1906 family archives. I stand corrected as I had not found that Benson Doub and Mary Charlotte ("Lottie") Newsome had a child named after her sister. I was aware that Lucy's name is included with her husband's tombstone, but that sometimes is duplicated. My objection to the Peterson entry is that North Carolina Longs and Doubs had little or no connection with Kentucky and that the Newsom kin connection with the Peterson-Smith site was not correct. I have a lot of details on Ancestry and My Heritage to follow which will be transferred, but the human anatomy is not designed to spend all day sitting. However, I do not believe Peterson-Smith have read my sources since the site was originally automatically connected with their site.It includes census residences for Lucy and family in North Carolina.
June, what are you referring to when you say the Peterson-Smith site?

As Linda Peterson has found elsewhere, there were two contemporary Hartwell Newsom(e)s, both born in NC-- one went to Kentucky the other to Virginia. Hopefully that has been cleared up on the two different profiles, and your Lucy is now attached to the right Hartwell.

Eddie, received; you should delete that message.

I've shared it in g2g several times, my lady Jillaine. heartkiss

Those who were connected in the beginning upon my placement of Lucy (Newsom) Doub on my family tree. They were seemingly members of the Kentucky Newsom family tree to which I can (still) see no connection.
June, your profile for Lucy is no longer connected to the Kentucky family.  As Jillaine and I have stated previously, your Lucy profile is now connected to the 'correct' Hartwell Newsom profile.  You had connected it to the wrong person who has the same name, born about the same time in North Carolina, and did go to Kentucky, where the father of Lucy did not go.   Please check the profile for the father that is connected to Lucy's profile.

I entered information which was connected to the Peterson  site automatically and I dispute the area which connected my Lucy (Doub) Newsom with Peterson Lucy (Doub) Newsom because as listed on my site Lucy (Doub) Newsom wed 2nd Long had no Kentucky connections, she was born in North Carolina, wed to Doub in North Carolina, bore his children in North Carolina, wed 2nd Long in North Carolina, and was buried with her 2nd husband in North Carolina.

June, what do you mean by "the automatic connection with your site."?
Yes, the system looks to see if the person being created already exists so we don't create duplicates. It displays a list of potential candidates. It's up to the creator of the new profile to determine which if any of the candidates is the same person.

I have added sources to Lucy's profile from family search. No sources found for a 2nd marriage or use of a different name, other than her 1st marriage, so it is a different person, probably the one that Jillaine found a source for. 1910 Census, shortly before she died, Lucy was living with her daughter Mary under the name of Doub, which is also on her gravestone.  See Research Notes included in the profile.

The correct profile for her father Hartwell B Newsom has now been replaced on Lucy and her brother Gilliam's profiles. Merges have been proposed for her brother Gilliam's duplicated profiles as well as their mother Elizabeth / Sarah Elizabeth profiles.  No source found that used Sarah.

Sources have been added to the correct father's profile using primary sources from family search. Please review all profiles.  Remember, as stated previously, information should not be changed on a profile and relationships should not be changed unless it is documented with sources, other than from a family tree on some site.
