Buffalo Brick wall - Stephenson's

My ancestor Joseph Stephenson (born about 1929-1831 in England) came to Buffalo and had a wife and child by 1854.   They lived at 1022 Bouck (Street name changed to Lafayette).   They appear in the 1892 census but I cannot find any death record for them.   I presume he died between 1892 and 1896 when his son lists their house for sale.  His wife Catherine (Kate) nee O'Brien was born circa 1834 in Canada.   I presume she died between 1892 and 1899.

The children of this couple continued to live in Buffalo at this period, so it seems unlikely they would have died any place other than Buffalo, Erie, NY.

A friend in a NY-genealogy online group went to the Buffalo Inactive Records and searched the death index for thi speriod but could not find them.

I need to figure out how to determine when they died and obtain information in their death record.

Name may also appear as Stevenson.

Seeing that they had a child born at St.Brigid's Church tells me that they moved to another part of the city. I would expand your search through all of Erie County. Also follow the trail of where each child settled in adulthood. They may have been living with one of their children when they died.
Yes, those are some of their children.  I have a pretty good hold on their children and many of their children's descendants.  I have the family at 1022 Bouck by the 1880s (the street changes name to Lafayette in the 1890s.)  The son retained the house for a few decades despite putting it up for sale in 1896.  Several of the children were still living at the family home in this period, and several others within a few block radius.   I have not yet fixed date of death so the window I offered is a presumption on my part.  If my window is correct, however, it appears all children at this time were in Buffalo.   At least two children wound up residing on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls but that wasn't until a decade or two later.  One of the daughters died there while visiting her brother but her body was transferred back to the states.
The only of the records not pertinant to them is that of Arthur.  That's for a different family.  Thank you!
I've not yet resolved the basic question of when/where Joseph and his wife died - I've no reason to assume anywhere other than Buffalo and in the time period mentioned - but - I have since established a Family Mystery page for the Stephenson Family:   http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Stephenson_Family_Mysteries
