my grand mother was not amrried to my father's father...and she wasnt married to my father's sister's father either...but the system always seems to assume that people were married...when it isnt always the case

If you have a couple listed as married who are not, click to the edit page of one of the spouses. Look in the right column under Edit Family for the spouses section. Then click "[add/remove a spouse]". The partner will disappear from the profile but will still show as parent on the child's profile and the child will show on each parent's profile.

If you open the edit page of the person's profile you will find, on the right hand side, (under, edit family), "Spouse (add)" Click on "add" and option ii is "unmarried". At the bottom of of the page, click on "Jane Doe has no spouse" The edit page will now show her as "unmarried" and the data field for "spouse" on her profile page will disappear.
