I'm looking for the birthplace of Andreas Kauffman, born Nov. 13, 1668, the son of Hans Kauffman and Elizabeth Hirschi. A search provided 2 hits, both with the same date of birth but one showed a birthplace in Germany and the other showed a birthplace in Switzerland. I would appreciate any help since Andreas in in my family lineage.

The records I have found are not that reliable. This excerpt from a genealogy has unknown reliability:

Taken from "A genealogy and History of the Kauffman-Coffman familes of North America 1584-1937" Andrew emigrated from Freisenheim, in Oberamt of Neustadt, Palatinate Germany where he is recorded as a Mennonite in 1716. He left from Rotterdam, Holland in early June 1717 and arrived in Philadelphia in September 1717. He located on a 200 acre tract which was part of the 5000 acre blanket warrent granted to Hans Herr and Martin Kendig on Sept. 27, 1717. This tract adjoined that of Isaac Kauffman (d. 1737) on the west. The tract was surveyed on Saturday, May 31, 1718 along with john Witmer's 200 acres adjoining on the west of Andrew's 200 acres and Michael Miller's 300 acres which adjoined on the north. Andrew Kauffman's land is in the southwet corner of the road leading off the Lincoln Highway (route US 30) towards millersville PA which is a few miles southwest of Lancaster. Adrew dauffman appears on the tax list of 1718 for Conestoga Manor in the amount of 12 shillings. He was naturalized in 1727. When Andrew's neighbor, Isaac Kauffman died intestate, the following were bonded on Jan 8, 1738 to administer Isaac's estate: Andrew, Isaac's widow, Elizabeth, and Melchoir Erisman. Andrew Kauffman acquired 464 acres of land which at the time of his death wwas distributed to his four sons. Due to clerical mis-spelling, his will is in the name of Andrew Cofman although his will is marked ADM. His will mentions two sons but the deeds name twelve children. The graveyard where Andrew was buried was demolished in 1937 by the owner of the land.

I did not have time to look more thoroughly but if he was indeed a Mennonite the Switzerland - Palatinate connection could be real. Many Mennonites fled to the Palatinate from prosecution in Switzerland. What are the supposed birthplaces?
