Edward Naish bap 14 Nov 1701 West Lavington, Wiltshire, Eng. but no parents?

Hi All, I think I’ve found my Gt*? grandfathers baptism his name is Edward Naish and it’s dated 14 Nov 1701 and is recorded at West Lavington, Wiltshire, England.

But all the records of this I can find so far on the web don’t give any parents.

I can see there are Naish couples having kids there at the time and I suspect most likely will be another Edward, but without the evidence I’m unable to progress.

Anyone have access to see the original or know what his parents are?

Many thanks

Peterson

Is the 14 November 1701 baptism absolute? There is another Edward Naish baptism that shows parents, but it is in 1702 in the same county.

Hi, Yes your correct there are others, but If it's the Edward Naish in 1702 at St. Edmunds, Salisbury, I'd feel being 20 miles out of area would make it more unlikley.

Were as West Lavington is only 3 miles away from where he lived and died and on his marriage he says he is of Bishops Lavington (which I'm told is another name for West Lavington).

So the 1701 is not absolute, I will always be happy to look at other options, but it looks to me to be the most likley.

I was thinking if I can get his father I can check for a Will and see if I can get better evidence that way.

Many thanks

I Just found another Benjamin Naish to a William Naish

Christening
08 MAY 1709
Market Lavington,Wiltshire,England

Which is about 2 miles away.

So I can see this is not going to be that easy to sort them out and will need to check for age at death / MI's

If there were no parent named on the 1701 Benjamin Naish, could it then be possible this was an adult christening?

In which case how old in 1701 is an adult, would that be 21? or could it be 16 and both parents have died so are not named.

Peterson

Here are the parents names for a July 11, 1702 christening of Edward Naish at St. Edmunds, Salisbury, Wiltshire, England. They are John Naish and Sarah.

In addition, for a November 2, 1700 Christening of Edward Naish, at Bishops Cannings, Wiltshire, England, the father's name is Will. Naish.
