Artist and photographer Charles Leslie Lang (1870 - 1966)

+5 votes

Charles was born October 12, 1870 in Dickenson, Franklin, New York, USA (per death record was born November 12, 1870; obituary has October 12th). He was the son of John Lang and Maria Delamater. He passed away in 1966.

He was an artist and photographer. He attended the Massachusetts School of Art. I’m his 2nd great grand nephew.

I’d like to find his work if any survived and might be available?

Thank you

Note: We know he painted scenic views of his area. I have seen a painting of his work from family but would like to know if any are available

Did he sign the painting that you saw? What was the format of the signature that he used. If other works were included in museums or auctions, the signature would be described in the text. Searching for that might help you track down other work.
The photo I have of his work shows a signature in bottom right corner of painting as

L.L. Lang

No luck with that either but it was fun seeing all the results that turned up. It's kind of odd that he signed with L L when his name was Charles Leslie. I wonder what the first L stood for?
It’s a good observation. My only thought is maybe L.L. Is Leslie Lang then he signs his full Last name. Unique preference? The image is a scenic view of a stream and mountains a home in the mountains. Very peaceful scenery
Ok. My reading of it might be wrong. The first letter is possibly a C so C.L. Lang
