Fonts on profile pages looking terrible?

The standard fonts on the profile pages are looking terrible. Heading text is fine, also photos & badges. The letters look skinny if that makes sense.

Anyone else seeing this? I'm only seeing it on the WikiTree profile pages, everywhere else I go looks normal.

Hi John,

I wish I had an explanation for this. There have been no recent changes. But I've seen other people post in G2G about a change in fonts when there was none.

What web browser do you use?

I'm using Chrome. The "problem" was gone a few hours later. It was only on the WikiTree profile pages, not here in G2G or other websites.

I've recently had the same problem on a different web site. The problem seems to be with Chrome. The same pages/fonts look fine on Firefox.
Thanks, John and R.

R., do you recall the other website? I'd like to look at how they're doing their fonts.

The site is ello.co. Here's a link about their font: http://ello.co/budnitz/post/d8hI6JLlzrX5nF4yUd49KA

I complained to them a week ago and the problem seems to have gone away.

I don't know whether they changed something or if it's due to Chrome's upgrade from 41.0.2272.43 to 41.0.2272.64.

I suspect that it's Chrome. I magnified the fonts, then and now.

Then: type was only black pixels. curved and horizontal strokes were a single pixel wide. vertical strokes were 2 pixels wide.

Now: type has anti-aliasing (grey scale pixels) and looks good.

Thanks, R.
Chrome is a problematic browser for a lot of systems. It is incompatible with our county offices, and I believe the entire state grid of social services. Our techs remove it whenever they find it on staff's computers. It isn't staff's fault in most cases, it's just that it can be slipped onto a PC before you know it. The people who create count on people to not do anything about it. But it can easily be removed at the control section in computers.
