Likely error on wikiTree I can’t fix myself

In looking at the community connections this week, I came across what looks on the surface, at least, like two different women named Ann as sisters, both living to marry and have children. They are, indeed likely seperate people. This needs to at least needs to be looked at closely to be sure this is indeed correct, and if it is, a note should be added, I think. What should I do in a situation like this? This research is beyond my capabilities. Is there a way to register or report this kind of thing?

Please suggest other tags that might bring this to the right people’s attention. Thanks!

They could be something like Anne Marie and Anne Louise. It was very common in some areas for the most popular saints' names to be the first part of a given name, and not at all uncommon to use the same saint's name multiple times in a family. Anne, Marie, Jean, and Joseph were most frequently chosen. Unfortunately, recorders of vital events often just wrote down the first part. When we come across these confusing names in the Louisiana and Acadia projects, we add a clear disambiguation note with a link at the top of the biography or in the research notes section. Hope this helps.

Hi Deborah,

I'm pretty sure your answer is here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Merging .

Hi Ian,

This isn’t  a merge situation, but upon people with the same name listed as children of the same parents presumably, one off them is not the child of those parents, but I have only connected my family to a descendant of one of the two  children named Ann, and have no insight into which   Ann is really the parents child. Merge I got, I can do if I have the sources to back it. Up, but it’s the lack of sources that are the problem in decoupling either of these women from the parent couple.

You can post a comment on the two profiles. The manager of the profiles will get a message that way and hopefully do something about it.

Hello, Eef,

I have done as you suggest  Thank you for the idea. Is there a way to add these profiles to my watch list, so I know if anything gets done?
the only one who can add you as member of the trusted list or manager on an already managed profile is (one of) the profile manager(s) of that profile.
