Week 34 of The WikiTree Challenge for Amy Johnson Crow of the "Generations Cafe podcast" was an amazing week of creative resourcefulness as team members battled the stubbornest of brick walls! As always, team members impressed us with their incredibly varied skill sets and dedication to the task.

Challenge participants added 315 profiles to her branches. There were 54 direct ancestors and 261 nuclear relatives of ancestors. 12 of the direct ancestors were brick walls and completely new to Amy! Additional ancestors added beyond the brick walls filled her branches out nicely, with one line gaining more than 100 direct ancestors!

Altogether, more than 32 members made 3,178 edits to her ancestor profiles. Many did research, while others worked on profile narratives, looked up articles, added categories, and contributed in other ways.

Here are some highlights from our discoveries:

  • John Young, Amy's 4th great-grandfather, was found to be the son of Andrew Young and Elizabeth Borthick. He was baptised on the 4th of March 1764 in Cockpen, Midlothian, Scotland. John and his wife Mary had at least six children, and died in Ohio in the United States
  • Proof was found for the maiden name of John Kelley's mother. His father Joseph married Elizabeth Longwell. There are now 17 new ancestors on that line! The oldest was Jehan Coursier born about 1635 in France. His daughter Marie married Daniel Jouett and they migrated first to London. They went from there to Carolina in 1695.
  • On the Starkey branches, only Nathan was listed as an ancestor past Peter Starkey born about 1760. His mother is now known to be Jane Roberts, and there are now more than 75 new direct ancestors connected to that line.
  • There are many new ancestors on the Skinner branches, on various lines. There are more than 100 new ancestors attached, with one of the oldest being Heindrick Henderickson born about 1541.
  • In a touching and emotional moment Amy shared a memory about her father with us. It pertained to the parents found for John Johnson, a brick wall she was sure would never be broken.
