Advice before merging these pre-1700 Renaud-Renoud profiles?

Renoud-8 is a duplicate of Renaud-110 (side-by-side comparison) so they should be merged.

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding?

Or perhaps someone with more WikiTree experience would like to complete the merge? Let me know if you do. Thanks!

Both spellings of the surname (Renoud/Renaud) seem to be used depending upon the "whim" of the people who entered the original information. As the profile manager of Renaud #110, I don't know how to handle this merge. If I approve it, then does "Renoud" become the official spelling?
John,  The merge is currently scheduled for Renaud-110 to go into Renoud-8.  Whoever completes the merge will have the opportunity to reverse it.  It is important that the correct spelling be determined before completing the merge, but it might not be possible to do this.  Currently, neither profile has a valid source, so more research is needed to either conclusively prove the correct spelling or even to make a best guess.

More work is also needed before they can be merged because the children are different.  I see that the 2 find a grave citations on Renoud-8 have different information and one refers to a land transaction and a will.  Although it does not attempt to source these items, my guess is that they can probably be found and, in the absence of a primary source of correct last name, the decision could be based on them.

This merge has just been initiated today.  Unless both profile managers approve it, the merge cannot be completed until 30 days, when it will receive default approval.  The other profile has no manager, so there is always the possibility that someone will adopt it and approve the merge, so my recommendation is that you not approve the merge until the correct last name and correct children can be better nailed down.
