Are you a descendant of Pettys who lived in Tennessee in the 1800s?

I'm looking for Petty surname males (or someone who knows of a male Petty surname relative) whose ancestors are known or suspected to have lived in Tennessee for some period of time in the 1800s, to join in a Y-DNA study.

I'm the administrator of the Petty surname project at FamilyTreeDNA.  Many of our participants have documented (or strongly suspected) Tennessee ancestors, with earlier roots in Virginia and/or North Carolina - but their Y-DNA divides them into two distinct lineages.  We're anxious to find more Petty descendants who are willing to take the Y-DNA test and, through their results, help us fully define the genetic characteristics of these two lineages - and eventually trace them back to their (presumed) separate 17th century origins in England.

Please let me know if you'd be interested in joining our project.
