We don't know who the father of Charles Franklin is yet. Ancestry.com told me that the English troops buned some of th buildings in the capital and some of the records was lost, and it effected areas of Va. aand too, Benjamin McCoy is to young to be his dad. the next posibility is David McCoy Sr. I found that 1 time but was unable to confirm it. David McCoy was found in the 1840 or 50 cenus in Wayne County (WV now) Charle was gon by then. I wish I had better answers but I have been at a dead end for quiet a spell. Even though he was born in 1814 he is my great gandpa. He joined the confederate army in 1861 in Rocky Gap Va. TheVa 8th Cavalry co. D. but was relased due to his age.
