A quick review of Ancestry.com finds the Sizemore surname predominant in the South as far back as the American Revolution. They may go back further.

In some US censuses in the late 19th/early 20th centuries, it appears to be associated with Native Americans.

Ancestry.com maintains a Sizemore message board:

http://boards.ancestry.com/surnames.sizemore/mb.ashx

as does Genealogy.com:

Start with what you do know and work backwards. Good luck. If you can provide a bit more information about your dad's family, we might be able to get you back a few generations.
