Hello, everyone. Kathy from Ohio here. I am looking forward to contributing to WikiTree after working since about 2018 on trees and individual profiles on Ancestry and FamilySearch. I admire what I've seen here so far, especially the emphasis on providing complete sources.
My personal research difficulties involve (a) the highly intermarried Kentucky families, all with common names, on my father's side of the family, (b) uncertain male parentage on two and possibly three generations on my mother's side, and (c) the fact that half of my DNA matches on both sides have ties to the Perry family. (One branch of this enormous clan produced my FMM; some other Perry married into the Sargent family, later resulting in my MFFM.) And—oh, yes!—I have counted 59 spelling variations so far for one German great-grandparent's surname. I must force myself to slow down in my research, document my sources carefully, and pay visits when I can to county courthouses and historical societies for the 95% of our records that are apparently not yet digitized.
Researching: Harper, Martin, Perry, Foutch, Hooks, Allison, Gundlach, Geckley, Nehrer, and many more.
