All served together in the Ga 28th Infantry, Co. G, recruited from Murray, Whitfield, and Gordon Counties in Georgia. John Melton Adams is my great-grandfather. Matthew died as a Capt., in the 28th, David Adams died in Whitfield County from disease before the end of the war. John Melton was born in White County, GA, near Mt. Yonah. John Melton was born 1843 or 1846, died 1910, in Jackson County, AL. I have pictures of the gravestones, and a reference to John Melton Adams from a book about the history of Jackson County, AL. John Melton was wounded near Gainesville, VA  in June of 1863, probably involved in the battle at Chancellorsville, in which Stonewall Jackson was killed. I cannot find the connection between the 3 Adams' listed, or a fourth, named James Martin Adams, who is buried in Pleasantville Cemetery in Jackson County, Al. He served in the GA 40th Infantry, Co. G. I need to know their familial connection, and how they ended up in AL, from Northwest GA.
