Hello: Anyone researching surname "GRACE" Hampshire, England late 1700s - early 1800s ?

Question

Looking for birth & marriage John (husband of Ellen [or Elizabeth], father of William). Occupation possibly stonemason or bricklayer

William (born by 1820, married in Alverstoke 1841.

William married Sophia Harding 10 January 1841, Alverstoke, Hampshire. The couples entry in 1841 census, living n Futon Road, Alverstoke, where William described as Bricklayer.

Likely William was christened 21 January 1816,Southampton, Hampshire, the son of John Grace & Elizabeth

 

A public members' tree in Ancestry UK lists John & Elizabeth  to have been born c1795 & c1798, Goodworth Clatford, Hampshire. This couples entry in 1851 census living Cowdown, Goodworth is

A John Grace was christened 8 October 1797, Goodworth Clatford, the son of John Grace & Sarah Emmans

Ron:   Many thanks for your prompt reply & info - certainly is 'my' William (I have a copy of the MarrCert) 'tho the Census info was (I suspect) wrongly recorded as to childrens' ages & street name (Forton Rd).

However gives me a good lead for John - is this family part of your personal research ?

Ages in the 1841 census are very unreliable as they were rounded up or down to the nearest 5 or 0.

The Grace family are not related to me.
