Help finding Vogt-1413 Norwegian roots

Question

It was suggested that I contact the Norwegian project with this question. I would like to find out anything I can about Rudolph Vogt's, Vogt-1413, Norwegian roots but I have come up empty. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tricky, but once you substitute Vogt for Fogth, results start to emerge. His full name appears to be Rudolf Herminius Fogth:

This is amazing!  So many names and dates match. My father once told me our name was pronounced Fogt. They seem to have dropped the patronymics already. These names Martin, Herminius...not your typical Norwegian names but they were passed on to Rudolph's children,  Arthur Martin Vogt and Oscar Herminius Henrich Vogt.

The timing of emigration tells a bit of a tale but it all fits so well. This gives me a new line to investigate.

Hi Les,

It is an interesting line to investigate. From what I can tell, the Fogth's are merchants in Halden (formerly Fredrikshald) and quite numerous with bakers and butchers. Halden is a difficult place to research since many of the records were lost in the big fires that ravaged the city.
