Help on connecting John P. Balding to John Searing Balding and wife Achsah Balding (Hollister)

Question

My very gracious Mayflower historian for the State of Nevada pointed out that I have a Mayflower ancestor (Richard Warren) that traces back to Achsah Hollister and John Searing Balding.  What I need to prove is that John P. Balding is John and Achsah's son.  I've tried to find census data from John S. Baldwin but back then it only shows head of household.  I'm waiting to hear back from Vigo, Indiana's probate court to see if John S. left a will listing his children.

I've got a copy of a census that shows John P's daughter, Alice Balding, as his daughter but nothing showing John S. and Achsah as John P.'s parents.  I've tried birth and death records with no luck.  Without this connection, my application will go nowhere.

John's brother, Nathan (Balding-174), is in at least two approved applications.  Maybe your state historian can check to see what proofs were used in those applications and that will give you insight into how to prove John's connection to the family.

See Warren-66 for info on Richard Warren.  Please define the relationships and dates to the Balding connections listed.  Your mention of back to Achsah & John S makes me think that you mean Richard's ancestors, but the ones I find are later, see Hollister-1131 for Achsah & Balding-47 for John S, with a son John P.

Can you give me a link to the publication you mentioned?  The link listed on John P.'s page goes up to 840-something.

Type, or copy and paste the person you want to see into the last name box, so if you want to see more info about John S, type or copy "Balding-47".  John P is Balding-77.

Using the connection finder, you can also see the trace.  Between Warren-66 and Balding-77 there isn't a blood relationship, but by marriage there is a short connection.
