For a long time, it was thought that Jonathan Davol's wife Hannah was Hannah Odlin/Audley. Austin said: Jonathan Davol (-1709+) & Hannah _____ (1643-). He then said "(she m Peter BUMSTEAD, had Hannah 21 Nov 1664); by 1665?; Newport/ Dartmouth {Austin: GDRI 286; Noyes-Gilman 105; Davol-Willets 1, 125; Brownell 43; Soule 215; Briggs-DeGroff 227}"
Anderson states that Hannah Odlin was the wife of Jeremiah Bumstead and that the claim that she also married Davol "has been refuted by Leo H. Garman." (Great Migration Begins: Immigrants to N.E. 1620-1633, Vols. I-III, Page 1350)
Garman wrote an article, "Additions and Corrections to Austin's Genealogical Dictionary of Rhode Island" (TAG 65:148), stating that Austin was wrong in stating that Hannah, wife of Jonathan Davol, was the daughter of John Odlin. He states that Hannah Odlin had married Jeremiah Bumstead by 1664, and she died between 1670 and 1674, having children with Bumstead until 1670. (Jeremiah Bumstead married his second wife Sarah by 1674.) Hannah Odlin couldn't have married Davol first and then married Bumstead, as Davol didn't die until at least 1698, unless Hannah and Davol were divorced, which was very rare and for which there is no record. Jonathan Davol was having children in the 1670's.
In the Second Supplement to Torrey, (Sanborn, Melinde Lutz. Second Supplement To Torrey's New England Marriages Prior to 1700. Baltimore, MD, USA: Genealogical Publishing Co., 2001), Page 19, Sanborn states: "Jonathan Davol ( -1698+} & not Hannah ODLIN [TAG 65:148]."
I think it is time to divorce Hannah Odlin/Audley from Jonathan Davol.
