Sourceathon procedure

I noticed some people noted they had been unable to find source and where they looked. Does that count or is it only an aid for where else to look next time. If a source applies to several people it only counts on those with no sources?

Thank you,

To answer why Research Notes get added to say where was looked and nothing found -- yes, it's to aid the next researcher, so they don't duplicate what was already done.

Research Notes do not count towards points for 'Thons or Challenges.

For the Source-A-Thon or the Sourcerer's Challenge, the source will only count on those with no sources. You can put the source on the other profiles too to make the documentation for those profiles more complete and accurate, but it won't get counted in the Thon or the Challenge.

If a profile had a 'family tree' as the only source, then a reliable source could be added during Source a Thon to have it count, also.
