Hi, I've been researching my family histories for the last two decades or so. My family has it's origins in the modern period in the Forest of Dean (Smith (Sigh!), Goode, Pearce), Wales (Jones (Sigh!) Gilfellen), Scotland (Muirhead, McChesney) Ireland (Finn, Geoghan, Speed, Mullen) and Germany/Denmark (Spanjer, Ross). I've been fairly successful all things considered, found the life story of my Grandmothers brother who she didn't know about - Lovell Glendower Tresham (A Smith and I am not sure why his name changed tho there is an interesting article about a cat burgler in Adelaide with that name). He died in the Rayuku Maru incident in WW2.
I also discovered the deaths of my Great Great Grandparents in Runcorn from Typhoid which orphaned my Great Granny...
All interesting. I'm looking forward to finding not too distant ancestors and helping others along. I'm reasonably competent as a researcher now days... :-)
