There is one category for the American-based Carnegie Hero Fund, but perhaps the name causes confusion with the other medal (British, for for children/youth literature).

Should there be another category created, and perhaps the name for the hero medal category be changed to help distinguish them?

This seems a good and helpful suggestion. Thank you for suggesting it.

I very much agree with this suggestion too. The two categories definitely need disambiguating!
I had already put in a request for the literary Carnegie Medal before this question was asked.
Thank you Melanie.

I also have five existing profiles that would have the category once created -- two of which I manage, and which were the spark for the need to create the category, and three which most would recognise: Richard George Adams (Adams-27139) - author of Watership Down, C S Lewis (Lewis-13750), and Terry Pratchett OBE (Pratchett-16).  I did not look for others.
