Having Trouble with French or French-Canadian Surnames?

Are you having trouble tracing a French or French-Canadian name? Perhaps it is because it was anglicized.  The GenWebQuebec site has a key for some common name changes.  You can find it here:http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~canqc/alias/angloabc.htm

I've seen many variations on translation but nothing has been so distant than this one;

Jean Guindon => John Yadon

Well, there's another one to be added, Liard gets mangled into Laird, have one great-great uncle who had that happen to him.  Oh well.  :D
