New member introducing myself

Hi, my name is John Matson.  I have been working on my family's geneology for years and have been fairly successful. I have hit a couple walls: most important is determining the ancestry for my grandfather Efner Matson (born Lapeer MI 1876) and adopted by Hiram/Anna Matson (also in Lapeer).  I would also like to know more about the background of Efner's wife, Jeanette L. Farnham (born New Brunswick, Canada 1852-53)-- in particular what happened to her family which disappeared from the record (in Canada) shortly before Jeanette's birth; her father was Benjamin John Farnham (born Bucksport ME 1805) who married Catherine McNiel (b. Scotland) in New Brunswick. I do not believe either returned from Canada although at least three of their children did; Jeanette was not accounted for. Would much appreciate if anyone has any info/guidance. Thanks,

Welcome to WikiTree
I have Benjamin Farnham in my local database but did not know that he went to New Brunswick. Perhaps when you get more family members added I will be able to find additional sources.  I live about 18 miles from Bucksport Maine

Hello Darryl, nice to make your acquaintance.  There are so many Benjamin Farnham's!  But that one was born in Bucksport 23 June 1805; he moved to Durham, Restigouche, New Brunswick in 1827 and married Catherine McNiel in 1828.  They had six children: John (1840), Mary (1842), Deborah(1844), Katherine (1847), Hannah (1849) and Jeanette (1852). The family broke up (likely both parents died) in 1852. Some made it back to Bucksport (John and Deborah ended up in California), but we don't know what happened with my great-grandmother Jeanette. She was most likely adopted in New Brunswick, grew up there and finally moved to Michigan.  By the way, we love Maine; on our most recent trip two weeks ago we visited Bucksport a couple times. BTW I filled in my tree on wikitree back a few generations; I have a more extensive tree on Ancestry if you happen to have an account there.  Hope this helps!

Best regards,
John
