What was the source of the information that Cary Shanks suffered for 3 yrs. and 8 mos.?

Good question.... I hope it is answered here.

I would presume it would be found in the Herald of the Valley (Newspaper, Fincastle, VA from 1820-1823) source that was recorded in the profile. The only place I can find a copy of this article is in the Genealogy Bank website. Unfortunately, I don't have a subscription to retrieve the article.

It looks like a number of libraries also have copies, but I'd have to go to a library version of Ancestry to look those up. I'm sure there's a way to read a copy, but I'm drawing a blank.

I looked on GenealogyBank...it isn't there. You might also try this link:

I found the article  need to make it more legible Cary died on the 25th and his parents on the 28th.
