Looking For More Information On William Wright B ca. 1740 in the 13 Colonies, PEI Loyalist

I am looking for some CONFIRMED information on William Wrights wife, and parentage, there was/is speculation that he married a Hannah Dusenbury but this information seems doubtful. I cannot seem to find any further information despite my attempts. If anyone could provide help that would be wonderful! Or even an accurate area to go to, to begin further research. It has been said that William was a quaker, and as well that he and his family maintained that status and so were considered traitors, and had most of their personal belongings taken from them. They were near westchester NY before leaving and coming to Canada to settle in Prince Edward Island, as loyalists.

I just found your question about William Wright and I just discovered my 6th Great Grandfather also named William Wright.  Here is the information I have, my ancestor was from Staten Island, NY and was probably born around 1730 or 1740.   He was a Captain of the ship named " The William" which was a part of the Loyalist Fleet that was taking refugees to Saint John in New Brunswick in July of 1782, one of these refugees was my 5th Great Grandfather Joseph Barlow who would marry William Wright's daughter, Martha, my 5th Great Grandmother.  So I can't help but wonder if your William Wright is the same one as my William Wright.

Thank you

I can't give you much that is solid except for a record I just found that lists a William Wright as having property confisgated in Middlesex, NJ for being a loyalist - see http://www.royalprovincial.com/genealogy/confiscations/nj/confmidd.shtml

Otherwise I mostly have the same info as you apparently, but none of it is reall confirmed. His daughter, Sarah married Jesse S Strang, a loyalist with a complex life that also went to PEI. I have a long 'note' about him which I could send by email if you think it would help - kaskae1@gmail.com.

Have you tried the PEI lineages site? The William Wright entry is at http://www.islandregister.com/wright1.html

His son was in lot 26 and my family was in lots 30 and 31

Has anyone found any new information on this William Wright? I'm convinced that the Hannah Dusenbury connection that was speculated by Weeks is wrong for the same reasons given in William's profile. A doctor wouldn't suddenly become a shoemaker. A ship captain also wouldn't suddenly be a shoemaker.
