This I am sure of William Turner (cherokee Indian) born in Tennessee about 1852 and Living in Butler County, Missouri in 1880 with wife Jane Byers and Daughter Rose Turner, Now this I am not sure of, I found a William Turner (Indian) that died in an 1881 Train accident in Desoto, Wisconsin and he is buried in Oddfellows Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.

This is the only William Turner (Indian) that I can find.  The picture was given to me by a family member and now I am stuck here, can anyone help me on this?

William Turner was 29y in 1880 US Census, wife was Jane 22y born MO, daughter, Rose 3y, born MO. The household was at Gillis Bluff, Butler, MO.

There was a William Turner whose spouse was Jane, who died in Chattanooga, Hamilton, TN on 5 Aug 1934. He was 81y, widowed, and born 25 Jun 1853 in TN. It's possible that he returned to TN after living in MO.

Thank you for your input, But the William T. Turner that I am looking for was Indian and was Married to A Jane ( Byers ? ),  and Had a daughter by the name Rose Etta Turner. Rose Etta Turner My G-Grand mother married John William Hutsenpiller (Hutsen) in Missouri, William and Rose (I am told by one of thier daughters) Had a son by the name John Turner and was a Baseball player in Oklahoma around the 1915 or maybe 1916 , Rose Etta Turner Died in Huston, Texas. and John Willian Hutsen died in Texarkana, Bowie, Texas

William Turner and Jane Lived in Butler, County, Missouri between 1860 to 1881 which I belive 1881 is when William Turner died. Jane Married Thomas J. White in Struddard Missouri, after William died, and then Jane and Thomas White moved to Bogata, Texas early 1900s. I have a Picture of Willian Turner that was taken in Bloomfield Missouri before the 1881 death and also have old Land deeds. Again thanks for your Input.

Read about melungeon here, amongst other places on the web, I am in the line of Israel Miniard m. Mary "Polly" Turner.  Mary, I believe may have been a sister to your William.smiley

My ggrandmother looked very indian, and the family was told she was half indian.  I've read a bit, each - indian and melungeon - have different and undesirable genetic diseases.  I'm okay if I'm not indian, not sure if I carry those genes, and same can be said for melungeon, but, I believe I am one or the other ~ was born in KY.  That part of my family has/had extreme diversity in their traits.  It is what it is, really!laugh
