Hi all, I just discovered WikiTree and realized what a resource it is! Yay! :)
Hoping that someone might be able to help me out with a family mystery, an aunt of my maternal grandmother that has been alluding me, as well as fellow researching relatives, for years.
Her name was Elvira Cecilia Lovisa Engström, born September 15th 1879 in Mönsterås, Småland, Sweden. As she is not yet profiled here, her ancestors and relatives may be viewed from her profile page on my own website: http://genealogy.maritha.net76.net/getperson.php?personID=I1303&tree=maritha (only in Swedish, though, sorry), Not all information about her is there right now, so here are additional info:
Up until 1896 she lived in Mönsterås; May 8 she left Sweden to go to Chicago in America, the stopped briefly in England, left from Liverpool on board the ship Campania and arrived April 18 at Ellis Island. (For some reason their transcription says she's English, which she's not.) Her last name was probably spelled Engstrom or Engstroem in the USA.
I know next to nothing about her whereabouts after that. She was headed to Chicago - did she end up there? Granny told me that Elvira eventually married a man with the surname Karlsson (Carlsson/Carlson) and that they has three children (all daughters?), of which one daughter at some point came to Sweden and visited her relatives there. Granny couldn't remember any of their names, sadly.
I would deeply appreciate any hints on her ilfe and descendants!
Best regards, Maritha
