You can now search names, locations, and Y and mtDNA haplogroups found in mitoYDNA.org (a free database which integrates with WikiTree).

Register at mitoYDNA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0WWnDdWKKw , click on Tools, and try for yourself.  Help is at https://www.mitoydna.org/Help/SearchHelp

I found a Carroll line from Bahamas I did not know about by selecting Location, Starts with, and Bahama, then selecting Y only.  The results showed all Y-DNA tested males (in mitoYDNA) whose earliest known patrilineal ancestor was born or died in the Bahamas. This new discovery (who is not yet in WikiTree or the Bahamas DNA Project) traces back to a Carroll who was born in Maryland and died in the Bahamas. https://www.mitoydna.org/Public/YKit?MtyID=T11285  He matched 63 out of 67 markers https://www.mitoydna.org/Public/YCompare?MtyID=T11285,T12709

with this Bahamian Carroll line in WikiTree https://www.wikitree.com/treewidget/Carroll-11802/890

What can you find?

Excellent blog about this new feature by it’s programmer and WikiTree member Gale French at https://blog.mitoydna.org/2021/11/search-tool-at-mitoydnaorg.html

I have not so far found anything in mitoYdna but maybe if enough people get on there or if my brother ever consents to do the ydna it will be more useful. Oh wait, after reading previous post, think I have found a use. If I have a Y tested Wright cousin, I could use his Haplogroup in SNP tracker to tell where our Wrights originated? That would be cool. The link from Wiki tree to Mitoy is very nice too.

Thank you!

My great aunt, Leila M. Pinder married Lorenzo R. Carroll. Both from the Bahamas. Lorenzo Carroll was born 12 April 1889 in Southern District, Long Island, Bahamas. They had three children.  Leila Pinder was the sister of my grandfather, Douglas W. Pinder, Sr.  Their father was Clement T Pinder and mother was Melvina E. Saunders.
