The 1900 census lists a number of possibilities (see below), but I'm not sure how you'd tell which one is right. Have you tracked down the marriage license/record for Robert and Viola?

I found them in the 1920 census. Robert is enumerated as B.F. Freman (that's how it's indexed, but from the handwriting, it could just as easily be Freeman). Indicates he was born in Texas. They were in Beat 2, Alcorn Co., Mississippi. He was a farmer, general farm. With him is Viola, Arthur, Hassle, and Comfy [sic]. Arthur and Hassle were born in Tx; Comfy in Mississippi.

I'm not sure about Robert, but Elzert is my dad and he talked about his family being from  Mississippi.
