Keith, I started a reply and lost it so don't know if you got it. Anyway, I know very little about James and Elizabeth Engald Crawford other than my cousin was a direct marker to Kevan Crawford of 47 markers. He has a site that does dna now. Kevan contacted me and like the Jesse H Crawford in our neighboring county of Nacogdoches refused to admit my association with Jesse H as he'd found out his connection.
Later he contacted me and admitted that after Memphis had taken a full 47 markers that Jesse and Thomas was connected. According to my assumption, Jesse had a son name Thomas in 1806, which the researchers of Jesse denied. This was listed in a society book by one of Jesse's descendants by a woman who was getting a divorce. I knew it because my grandparents told me we were related to the family members in Nacogdoches by names.
That fact Thomas was living next to the Crawford about the same time seem to me to be a first clue, as well as family names mentioned to me. I found this info in 1970 but it was only 2009 or so that I got the proof.
There were men listed in Texas when we were the Republic of Mexico that was list in family histories in our library that I got names from. (All within the same time frame) A newspaper article from Mrs Erickson that gave the info that I still have. I recently called her, she is 86 and lives in Nacogdoches, and she laughed when I told her that Thomas was not recognized by Jesse's family member (have a letter) and told me that it was not true. She started printing family genealogy when she started getting asked by researchers when she worked for SFA and put books together.
I think they denied it because Jesse and his exwife had money. There only members to receive anything from Jesse's estate due to the fact he was living with a daughter.
However, I connected Vineyard, John, Jesse H, James, Colby and I think one of the daughters was a Rachel. One of the family had triples which my grandfather kept bring up when he talked about my mom's twins. Said it ran in the Crawford family.
James Crawford (1746 Shenandoah Valley Va-ca 1835 Limestone AL) married Elizabeth England/Engald (ca 1752 Covington, Alleghery VA-1825 Limestone, AL) had son Joseph (m Elizabeth Brock), Moses(m Mildred Vest), Elizabeth (m Thomas Thrasher), Vineyard (m Dorcus Allison), John (m Mary Johnson), Jesse H (m Hannah Warren), Colby, Casander (m Isaac Clark), Rachel (m Ashmore), Mary Elizabeth( m George Ambrose, Brock), Samuel, Russell (m Lucinda Allison),
Why don't you email me at email@example.com and I'll email a copy of the document I got from Kevan.
By the way, the kept saying the sons were living in Ark/OK but both of these states were part of the Republic of Mexico before we had the revolution and became the Republic of Texas.
