Apparently the son of Fredrick Luther and Margaret Wilbert (Milbert) born in Vincennes IN about 1878. As no records are avaiable prio to 1882 I can't confirm this. Fredrick died before 1879 and Maggie moved to Little Rock AR where she appears in the 1880 census as a widow with John , Joseph and Charlottr Louise Ellerkamp.

Fredrick Herman Luther was from Illinois and they were married in Richland County IL 17 Aug 1877. Have no idea what happend to Herman Luther except he just vanishes.

No idea why the son John had Maggies name from a prior marriage. She had been married to Antone (Anthony) Ellerkamp. Married 19 Nov 1868 in Vincennes IN. He passed away 1 Jun 1874 in Vincennes.

Have contacted the library in Vincennes and they could provide no more information. Contacted two chuches in Vincennes , both Catholic to see if they had baptism records and the reply was no. I have a feeling he was bapisted in The St John The Batist Catholic Church but can find no records.

John Henery Ellerkamp was my wifes Grandfather and he passed away in 1954 in New Gulf, TX

I am grateful for the help but I aleady have all of this information. This program is very difficult to enter data into or I could put all sorts of stuff. My problem is the period before 1882 when Indiana didn't keep any records. John Sr was born in Vincennes but his mother wasn't married to her first husband Anthiny Ellerkamp as he died in I think 1874. She married Fredrick Herman Luther in Aug 17,1877 but he died before 1879. No reason why she gave her new son the dead fathers last nme.
Your question was one I thought I could help with.  My family line moved through the area, they were quakers, lots of info. There was a site by the state with very little in the way of history of the area.

If you need assistance in posting data or adding info to wiki tree, would be glad to assist. Using the edit key and just typing the info without all the frills might help and makes family history more interesting.  If you would like to learn the bells and whistles can help there also.

Have a wonderful day,
Mike
