Right - what happened was this mixed standards together, which is why it looks that way. From an American perspective, we utilize middle names, so you've properly placed "Marion" in the Middle Name field. However, that would mean that "Marion" should not show up in the First Name (aka Proper First Name) field at all.
But as Melanie pointed out, if she always went by Ruth Marion and people did not simply call her "Ruth" or "Marion", then the Preferred Name would still show up as "Ruth Marion" and there will be a "double name" in the end result. It can get more fun when she may have gone by "Ruth Marion", but as a nickname you indicate that some did call her "Ruth" as a Nickname, so when you start adding in those, the name field adds even more duplicates as it tries to show all the slight variants that were used.
