Pre 1700 profiles for Ireland and UK - can you clarify the project?

I have been reading the recent info on pre 1700 profiles and am now wondering what I need to do.  Most of my pre 1700 profiles fall into Irish or UK.

i have always thought Irish Roots was a project for those who had left Ireland not everone Irish.  I re read the project info today and it says it is for ' wikitreers who have Irish ancestry'.  So now i am not so sure.  Can someone clarify this for me? (I now see it is a sub project of Ireland, but I had to dig deep in the Uk project to find that).

Similarly the UK project i had understood was an umbrella or top level project to cover sub projects. There are no sub projects yet, other than the countries that make up the UK.

Should there be some subprojects created to capture some of the categories of people in the UK and Ireland for pre 1700 profiles?  The US has many sub projects that would cover these.  Unless they are royalty, an arisocrat, a Magna Carta baron or notables i dont see too many others that would apply.

i cant see the value of just going through and joining all my pre1700 profiles to these projects when the projects are so broad?

Also what is the benefit of adding the project template?  Is it creating some sort of list for leaders to look at?

i'd appreciate some clarification please.

Hi Veronica,  The Irish Roots project is for everyone with Irish ancestry and not just those who left Ireland.

The UK project is a fairly new umbrella project.  As you say it's sub projects at the moment are England, Scotland, Scottish Clans, Wales and the associated Irish Roots.

All UK countries are divided into Counties.  There are numerous categories within all of these.  There are also some active sub projects e.g County Cork, Scots in Foreign Service, Scots Abroad ( which will look at how Scotlands commercial trade evolved}    We are also linking Commonwealth Countries to our umbrealla page (projects and categories )

We are actively looking to develop the U K project (resources permitting) and would be happy to consider any new sub project you have in mind.

Sorry I did not answer your question re the template.  Apart from identifying profiles as part of the project I'm finding it's use is highlighting  aspects of work which needs to be done on the numerous categories which were already on WikiTree prior to the start of the project.   There are lots of e.g historical and peerage categories which can now be populated.   It's use is helping us develop the project long term.
My question was about identifying pre 1700 sub projects.  I'm not sure what they should be? Also, perhaps there should also be links to the euristo projects from somewhere in the Uk commentary?
