Does anyone have a valid source that Col. William Leigh changed his name to Lea? I only see documents with the spelling of Leigh. What sources do we have that show he had nine children? Names of those children? Thanks for the help, Mary

In the book below (page 303) there's a William Lea of Charles City County in 1654 transporting 10 people. I suppose this must be the father of Colonel Leigh?

But spelling - Lea, Lee, Leigh - was pretty arbitrary and haphazard.

This is not the same person as Col. William Leigh who married Mary Greene and patented land in 1642. Thanks for trying. Mary
