Did Joshua Ely, 1652-1702, Have the Middle Name Billiard?

+5 votes
Joshua Ely, b. Nottinghamshire 1652 and d. New Jersey 1702, is shown with the middle name "Billiard,"  He was a Quaker.  I haven't found any evidence for this name, and it seems a bit out of place in 1652.

Is there any evidence to support Billiard as a middle name for Joshua?  If not, I propose to delete it, (of course with a note in the Bio.)

U.S. & International Records 1560-1900

Joshua Billiard Ely marries Mary  Senior in 1673.

A word of caution ,there are those who discount the validity of these marriage records.

You might put an asterisk and note on his name,as to where you found it.

In the few times i have used it,have found too be accurate.

I have edited Joshua Ely's profile and will be adding information with documentation from time to time to his profile and those of some of his descendants. With regard to "Billiard" as Joshua's middle name: it is an inaccurate addition from the mid-1980s from a descendant (long deceased) in Maryland. She never provided any documentation for it nor have I ever found any. This seems to me to be a great example of how people can propagate inaccurate information through the internet.
