I want to merge it into Pinckney- 16. I am manager for both. HELP!
WikiTree profile: Charles Pinckney
asked in Genealogy Help by Laura Scott G2G6 (8k points)

Laura, what's the story with Pinckney-16's birth and death date of 1753? Is there any chance that Charles Pinckney II and Frances Brewton had an earlier son Charles who died in infancy, and then Governor Charles got the same name? What leads you to believe these two should be merged?

Thanks so much for pitching in!  - Karen

I will accept this as a second child. I have been at this too long, will take a rest :-)
Ha, I can relate! Our eyes start to glass over after too many hours at the keyboard.
These SC folks lost so many babies in infancy, so sad.

Please do not merge yet. This couple is said to have had two children named Charles, with the first one dying in infancy and buried December 4, 1753. See "Colonel Miles Brewton and Some of His Descendants" in ''The South Carolina Historical and Genealogical Magazine,'' Volume 2 (1901). See page 144 at https://books.google.com/books?id=9pRIAAAAYAAJ

Laura, do you believe this source is wrong and there was only one Charles? Let's discuss.
