Could Tamar Houghton, wife of Enos Mather have gone by the name of Fannie?

All the birth records that I can find for children of Enos Mather (born March 15, 1793) list the mother's name as Fannie.  I have not found any marriage records other than the one to Tamar Houghton which occured in December of 1818.  Would those birth records have been transcribed at a later date and is it likely that someone interpreted the name Tamar as Fannie?  T's and F's can look similar in old handwriting.

I'd say yes. Her first child, whose birth certificate has the name Fannie for mother, is named Sydney Houghton Mather born February 17, 1819.

Found on ancestry.com site. Born Vermont.
Thank you!  That makes perfect sense.  I feel better about the name conflict now that you brought that to my attention.

She is listed as Tamar Houghton in 1912 Houghton Genealogy and DAR listing, as well as 1850-1870 censuses.

Would love to get listing of dates for her family.
