I am looking for the parents of James Nathaniel Harper born in Cross Bounds, Mississippi (according to family records) on May 11, 1871.  Parents may have come from Georgia according to later census records.

Thank you - you guys are fast!  To clarify a bit, I have lots of information on him (my great grandfather) after he married in Denton, TX and moved to Oklahoma.  I am actually looking more for his parents - my great great grandparents.  That's why I'm looking for information on his birth in Mississippi.  My mother's records say he was born in Cross Bounds, Mississippi May 11, 1871 but I can't find any census records which list him there (or any possible parents).  One census from his later life in Oklahoma says both of his parents were from Georgia.  I've tried there but don't know their names and haven't found anything yet.  Just hoping someone here has some magic up their sleeve!

We were just making sure we had the right James Nathaniel. I have done some digging on ancestry.com and they have his parents as William Jasper Harper b. 1850 and Sally Ann Taylor. No documentation is given for this relationship.

White.  Thanks, didn't think about that.  I'm pretty new to all of this.  See my above comment with more information on what I'm looking for (his parents, really).  I have a lot on his life in Oklahoma but don't know any further back.  thanks!

This is a process of Elimination,most Harper in Mississippi are African American

or Mulatto,There are about 25 James Harper in Mississippi.There is only one,white

that could be the one.Cross Roads is in Itawamba County.This James Harper is born

in Mississippi ( no county given) about 1867,By 1880 Census they are living in

Lee County, Lee and Itawamba share borders.His father W.H. Harper ,Mother

Sarah Harper, Your mothers records say parents may born Georgia, These are

born in Alabama.This is the best i can find.
