Hello y'all,
I know it's a bit late to do so but here's my family background :
My maternal ancestors are all from the area formerly known as the Westhoek (in Flanders) with activities related to the sea (dockers, sailors, fishermen, privateers for the kings of Spain (16th/17th c.) and France later (17th c.).
On my paternal side, I have two areas of interest : the former provinces of France named Limousin (grand mother's branch) and Maine (grand father's branch).
My ties with England and its colonies :
- My great grand uncle emigrated to the US in 1911 and during WW2, his company provided machinery and tools for the Consolidated Aircraft factory (in San Diego,CA) that built the famous B24 Liberator.
- In the branch from Limousin, I have a cousin that married in New Orleans in 1730 (in the early days of the city) and ties with the Plantagenets kings as well.
- In the branch from Maine, possibly "une fille du Roy" that married in Québec.
I hope we'll make a few discoveries together!
Matthieu
