Have you seen the new tool for browsing pending merges?

Today we released a (long-awaited and often-requested) tool for browsing pending merges. Check it out: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:BrowseMatches

You can browse all the pending merges on WikiTree, or just the ones on your Watchlist. This way you can follow-up on proposed merges that were never completed.

You can also browse unmerged matches, so you can see if they're ready to be merged, and rejected matches, to see if any are incorrect.

Post here if you notice any bugs or have suggestions for improvement.

Cheers,

Chris

Hi Vic. There seems to be a legacy of a bug here in some entries. For me, clicking "remove" worked. Do they still appear?

I'm having the same problem with:

Privacy Level 60 Nicholas Disborough (Disborough-9) and Privacy Level 60 Nicholas Disborough (Disborough-3)   Compare compare
Proposed by Erik Rasmussen.
Approval from Erik Rasmussen for Disborough-9 has been recorded.
Someone from Disborough-3's Trusted List needs to approve
If Disborough-9 and Disborough-3 are different people, reject the merge.
If there's been an error, remove the pending merge. Help

which was completed at the end of Nov 2012.  Clicking remove didn't work.  Other than this I'm loving this tool -- was able to complete about 40 of 250 pending mergers.

Good news: We now have the ability to limit BrowseMatches to just one surname (we already had the ability to do it for your Watchlist, but now you can do it site-wide).

I think this will be great for Arborists, for example, who might want to tackle cleaning up a certain family name.
This is GREAT!  Thanks.
Chris, I'm still finding lots of completed Merges when I work the Pending Merge list.  Vic
Hi Vic. I think these are a legacy of an old bug. If you create a list of all of them where the "remove" link won't work and send it to Lianne, she'll remove them.
I love this addition but I'vecome across several that were merged a long time ago. I couldn't figure out how to remove them from the list.
When limiting to one surname, only 20 show and when you hit next it reverts back to all names. I've worked around it by adding &u=&s=surname to the url and changing the limits to whatever I want. Don't figure that's how you want it done though.  Simple solution is probably remove the limit when listing only one name.   Tom

Tom reminded me of the bug on http://www.wikitree.com/g2g/25072/looking-at-merges-ive-proposed-but-im-not-involved-in

It's now been fixed. Browse Matches forward/backward links should now work properly when limited to a surname.

Thank you!!!

How do I clean up old merge requests when the profiles are now active and definitely NOT a match?

I have two profiles: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Forman-154 and http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Forman-151 that previously had a merge requested, as displayed on my report:

When I click either reject or remove, I get the same message:

Two active accounts cannot be merged. Please deactivate one account by removing its e-mail address, or contact info@wikitree.com for help.

Now that I paste (and re-read) that, I guess I should also email you, but I may not be the only one who gets this when using the new tool, so I'll leave it here for now. wink

I don't want to deactivate either account because they are currently used by those two people.

Thanks!
Lundie

Hi Lundie,

I fixed that one. If you find others, just e-mail us. They should be unusual.

Chris
Even better!  Thanks! :)

Been looking forward to this. I know what I will be doing in the evenings when I have a little free time.

How difficult would it be to add the date that the merge was proposed?

Privacy Level 60 Mrs. John Kembold Kimball (UNKNOWN-122191) and Privacy Level 60 John Kimball (Kembold-10)   Compare compare
Proposed by Aran Stubbs on 23 November 2011
Someone from UNKNOWN-122191's Trusted List needs to approve
Approval from Aran Stubbs for Kembold-10 has been recorded.
If UNKNOWN-122191 and Kembold-10 are different people, reject the merge.
If there's been an error, remove the pending merge. Help

Hi Jillaine. We just keep one timestamp. Initially, that's the date that it was proposed, but it ends up being the last time it was modified.
