Lori asked me to share what helped my numbers in the last connect-a-thon. In the years I have been here, I have gradually learned to make better use of the categories. So what helped move things along was advanced preparation that I didn't even realize I was doing at the time. Namely I had already gotten into the habit of leaving maintenance categories on profiles that I knew could use more work.
So when the thon got here and I was looking at the suggestion list, I could see profiles from "needs profiles created" category for people that I recognized and knew the sourcing would already be there to add children and spouses for them. That enabled me to copy and paste a source onto sometimes as many as 10 new people to quickly create stub profiles without having to stop and research.
Since 2022 is to be a year of connections, make sure you are adding that "Missouri (Arkansas, Oklahoma, etc) needs profiles created" category to everything that it applies to (in advance of the thons) and that the sources for those next profiles are there so it is easy to see who else they work for. That way it is easy to recognize them as being ready when the thons arrive. Then you can add 'needs biography', 'needs more records,' 'needs death record' to them before you leave so maybe someone will be drawn back to help them more later.
This is an example of how someone I have worked on recently has been left with a bunch of children that can still be added: Andrew Mackey
Any other tips?
