I am looking for more information on Loonie Gordon.

He was born in 1884, Bethany, Harrison County, MO.

He might have passed away in 1950 ?

He might have been married ?

I found the parents of "Loonie" in the 1900 Census. Their son Thomas W. is living with them. They are listed in lines 93, 94 and 95 in the following Census sheet:

According to this document, Mary (and John Gordon) have 5 living children, out of a total of 8.

The tree in FamilySearch shows 10 children, and not enaugh sources.

In the 1880 Census, the couple (John and Mary Gordon) is listed with 5 children (lines 34 to 40):

According to their WikiTree profiles and according to the tree in FamilySearch, the five of them, 1.-Jane, 2.-Asa, 3.- Catherine Tabitha (I think she is the one listed "Martha C" in the 1880 Census), 4.- John and 5.- Thomas  were alive in 1900.

Based in all of the above, If there was a son named Loonie, he died before 1900.

Based on the following 1870 Census record, the child listed "Martha C" in the 1880 Census record, is Tabitha C Gordon: Her siblings Octavia Jane and Asa William are listed in the same record.

Now we know that one of the 2 "extra" children in the FamilySearch tree is "Martha C". Could the other one be "Loonie"?

I have just noticed that the name is spelled "Lonnie" instead of "Loonie" in FamilySearch, just as Roger Stong suggested.

John Gordon and Mary Ann Newton had 3 infants that died the same year. So they won't be in the United States of 1870 and 1880 and 1900.

 I fixed the "Loonie" to Lonnie Gordon, b.1867 to what year that he passed away (?) , on Ancestry.

5 of the children of John  Gordon and Mary Ann Newton  where married. Thomas W. Gordon b. 1878 - 1906. He was single. They had 9 children and 3 of them die as infants. Martha Gordon is Catherine Tabitha Martha Gordon. Six where alive in 1900. Thomas W. Gordon b.1878 -died in 12th of May 1906, Bethany, Harrison, 1906. 5 children of John Gordon and Mary Ann Newton, got married.

Changing the birth date from 1884 to 1867 is rather profound.  If Lonnie was born in 1867, he died before the 1870 Census.  Other possibilities:

* He was born and died between two Censuses (not necessarily 1860-1870), and left no paper trail;

* He was the 1866 infant Henry;

* He was John L (perhaps the L was for Lonnie or even Loonie);

* Another Gordon family had a son by that name.

The profiles for him I found on Ancestry have no verifiable sources.

Edit to add:  You might try contacting the Ancestry user who originated the Loonie/Lonnie profile, to ask where she got her info.

In the 1900 Census sheet is said that Mary is the mother of 8 children, 5 of them living.

You said that John Gordon and Mary Ann Newton had 9 children, 6 of them alive in 1900.

Do you think the information in the Census sheet is wrong?

... or the sixth living child could be the son of John Gordon and a different mother?

The 9 children, 6 living comes from the 1910 Census, and applies to John Gordon's second wife.  I believe she was Mary Shumard (1830-1916).  I'm trying to document that.

As Vance said, it feels like Loonie is a nickname.  Have you looked at the sons and excluded any of them from being Loonie?

P.S.  I wonder if the nickname is Lonnie.  That name was more common then.
