My wife asked if I could find something about her grandfather on the computer.  I found this site and was going to check out what information they had, but find I am unable to without paying with my paypal.  I never leave much money in it and had I read more carefully I would not have used it, I thought it was 9.95 per year, not per month.  My mistake.  That is more money than I want to put in this so I would like to cancel the account.  I have looked , but can't find the place to cancel.  How about some help.  Thank you

I would like to encourage you to pursue this a little further, since it smells like some sort of a scam and is most likely not an isolated incident.  I am not aware of any way you could even link to PayPal or authorize a payment through this site.  If you made a payment via PayPal, you should be able to look at your account and see to whom the payment was made, and there is a "Resolution Center" where you can dispute a transaction.

If there is a scammer at work, and he has found some way to target users of this site, I don't think we should just blow off the incident.

I agree fully with this answer.  Maybe Paypal could be contacted and get these people's account revoked, cancelled or something else to prevent this type of scam.
You may have linked to the Wikitree profiles through My Heritage which charges you for information that is free. Explain to them what happened and they may refund you. Wikitree has no association with My Heritage. It seems that they should be a pop- up box that tells you that information from Wikitree could be found free.

The Wikitree is totally free.  Zero.  I don't know how you've seen that it costs anything but it doesn't.  So don't worry about the money.  Nothing down, nothing per month! :D

If you are being charged it's not through wiki tree.  If you accessed records from another site, you would of been charged by that site, wiki tree is free and Geneologist driven.

WikiTree.com is entirely free as mentioned in the previous answer.  Another free site is familysearch.org.

Here is a link to some of their records on Steven Thomas Allee and Birdie Brown.

https://familysearch.org/search/record/results?count=20&query=%2Bgivenname%3A%22steven%20thomas%22~%20%2Bsurname%3Aallee~%20%2Bbirth_year%3A1866-1870~%20%2Bspouse_givenname%3Abirdie~%20%2Bspouse_surname%3Abrown~

His burial record at : http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=9143419  lists his father.

I honestly didn't think you could post as anonymous while having an account and being logged on. Am I missing something?
